Just a couple of hours ago, The Band Perry released their brand new single ‘Better Dig Two’ which begins their new album cycle (currently untitled and set for release Spring 2013). It is streaming via Rolling Stone and you can listen to it there. I tried Googling the lyrics, however, and nowhere seems to have them yet, so I took it upon myself to transcribe them by ear. I think these are pretty much accurate but please let me know if any alterations need to be made.
I told you on the day we wed
I was gonna love you till I’s dead
Made you wait till our wedding night
First and the last time I wear whiteSo if the ties and bond ever do come loose
Tie ’em in a knot like a hangman’s noose
I’ll go to heaven or I’ll go to hell
Before I’ll see you with someone elsePre-Chorus:
Put me in the ground
Put me six foot down
And let the stone sayChorus:
Here lies the girl whose only crutch
Was loving one man just a little too much
If you go before I do
I’m gonna tell the grave digger that he better dig twoWell, it won’t be whiskey, it won’t be meth
It’ll be your name on my last breath
If divorce will dare ever do us part
The coroner will call it a broken heartPre chorus
ChorusDig two, oooh, oooh
I took your name when I took those vows (took those vows)
I meant ’em back then and I mean ’em right now, oh right nowIf the ties and bond ever do come loose
If it ever ever ends for you
If that ring gets a little too tight
You might as well read me my last ritesAnd let the stone say
Chorus
Put his stone right next to mine
We’ll be together till the end of time
Don’t you go before I do
I’m gonna tell the grave digger that he better dig twoI told you on the day we wed
I was gonna love you till I’s dead
