Purpose of the Event

The Timothee Chalamet look-alike contest as the name suggests was held for the sole purpose of finding the Lady Bird actor’s look-alike. The event was attended by thousands of fans and surprising way too many people who held uncanny resemblance with the star.

The attendees could be seen wearing Chalamet’s iconic looks. Inspiration for dress-up was taken from Timothee’s popular roles and his famous red carpet moments.

Event Location and Prize

Of course, the contest had to have a prize reward and in this case, the reward was set up for the one who looked the most like Timothee. The grand prize of $50 was announced as the winner.

The event was held in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village. Anthony Plo executed this idea, and he is said to have conducted similar contests with his friends’ help since the beginning of the year.

Unexpected Out-turn

Anthony Plo told Teen Vogue, “We more or less do the same thing every time for marketing, just hang up a couple of flyers and try to host a small community event. This one has turned into something more.”

The group recently held a Kai Cenat look-alike contest and only 20 people attended. However, the turnout for Timothee’s look-alike contest was something else with more than 2000 people attending the event.

Things Getting out of Hand

The upturn of people was slow and gradual, resulting in Greenwich Street looking like a literal fish place. It all started around 12:30 when Timothee fans, especially girls began to enter the park, whispering to each other, in the hope of finding the perfect Timothee look-alike.

Some came for Timmy, while others just wanted to win the cash prize. However, they all were getting much more than they expected.

The Event Went Viral

The Timothee fan page, “ClubChalamet” posted a link on X for the live streaming of the look-alike event. This of course meant that more than expected eyes were going to see the event.

Resulting in something way bigger than originally planned. “ClubChalamet” is yet to release any statement regarding their involvement in the success of the event.

Timothee Makes An Appearance

The most unexpected thing happened, Timothee Chalamet himself joined the look-alike contest. This move was nothing but iconic, and loved by fans.

As the contest was reaching its peak, during mid-afternoon, the 28-year-old star made a low-key appearance. Timothee was seen wearing a black mask and a baseball cap and took pictures with his look-alikes.

Alternate Motives

While several people gathered together to see Timothee, others were there for alternate motives. For instance, Jared Dylan Broek was at the contest to find out the next internet heartthrob for his modeling agency.

The 24-year-old told Us magazine, It’s a scrawny white boy parade. It’s perfect. It’s what we look for. We’ll see how it turns out. I’m hopeful.”

NYPD Arrives

It wouldn’t be an iconic event unless it didn’t have the police busting it. NYPD arrived at the scene and started clearing out the area.

According to the law enforcement team, the organizers didn’t have a legal permit to host the event in the park. Anthony Po, the event organizer, was anticipating some legal trouble the moment he saw the crowd adding up.

A $500 Fine

Of course, you couldn’t expect the NYPD to leave the place until they find someone or somebody. According to Anthony, he was expecting handcuffs around his hands but things didn’t go as badly with the police.

Instead, they simply handed the organizer team a $500 fine. Po told Us, “My bodyguard here, Roberto, he took the fine. So I’m going to be paying him”.

Backstory Behind the Event

Po explained how he was known as the “Less Hot Timothee Chalamet” and that’s where the idea stemmed from. Anthony loves to do public stunts and finds performance art entertaining.

With the help of his assistant, Paige, Anthony came up with the idea of a look-alike contest. Anthony’s original plan was to enter and rig the contest but it ended up being something larger, so in the end, everyone was having fun.

Who’s Anthony Po

The genius behind the event, Anthony Po is a YouTube with 2 million followers. The guy has been a content creator for 7 years now and also worked for Mr. Beast last year.

Po’s YouTube videos are all about creative stunts which include eating a jar full of cheeseballs right in front of Union Square. After this stunt, fans started calling Po, Cheeseball Man.

Who Won the Contest?

So, who took home the trophy and the $50 cash prize? Even though there were many Timothee’s only one could take away the trophy and it was secured by Miles.

The 21-year-old Miles Mitchell was dressed like Willy Wonka and held an uncanny resemblance with Timothee. The winner when asked what was he going to do with his prize money, shared with Us, “I’m gonna buy a bunch of chocolates!”

Other Participants

Even though Miles was the winner, the participant’s list was filled with Timothee’s close look-alikes. One of them was the 18-year-old Vincent Panetta, dressed like Bob Dylan in light of the upcoming biopic starring Timothee.

Similarly, there was Blaise Serra’s “Magician Timothee” look. The guy initially planned on showing his magic skills to the crowd but was convinced to enter the competition as he supposedly looked like Timothee.

Internet’s Reaction

The internet had a laugh over this one and rightly so. The whole fiasco was nothing but funny which resulted in the internet being stormed by memes and whatnot.

Several social media posts were made, and the most famous meme was about how Timothee Chalamet himself wasn’t a convincing lookalike.
