Season 2 Confirmed

On February 7, 2024, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that Percy Jackson and the Olympians had been officially renewed for a second season. This news wasn’t a surprise given the show’s impressive performance.

The series ended up ranking among the top five of 2023. The next season is expected to raise the stakes.

Release Timeline

Filming for Percy Jackson season 2 began on August 1, 2024, in Vancouver, British Columbia. It finally ended on January 3, 2025, with production utilizing various locations in British Columbia.

Currently, the series is following the post-production schedule. Disney+ has announced that the second season will premiere in December 2025.

Returning Cast

Several key cast members will be reprising their roles. On top of the list, we’ve got Walker Scobell as Percy Jackson.

Leah Sava is back as Annabeth Chase, daughter of Athena. Aryan Simhadri, Virginia Kull, and Toby Stephens have also reprised their respective roles, adding depth and continuity in the unfolding narrative of season 2.

New Characters

In season 2 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, we’ll be seeing several new faces. Daniel Diemer has joined the cast as Tyson.

Tamara Smart will portray Thalia Grace, the daughter of Zeus. Oscar-nominated actress Andra Day has been cast as Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom and mother to Annabeth Chase.

In season 2 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, the Gray Sisters – Anger, Tempest, and Easp are introduced. The three characters are played by Sandra Bernhard, Kristen Schaal, and Margaret Cho, respectively.

These characters are known for sharing a single eye and tooth. They operate an Olympian taxi service in the greater New York City area.

New Zeus Actor

In season 2 of Percy Jackson, Emmy Award winner Courtney B. Vance will portray the character of Zeus. He’ll be succeeding the late Lance Reddick, who passed away in March 2023.

Plot Overview

In Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2, the narrative follows the events of The Sea of Monsters. This is the second book in Rick Riordan’s series.

Percy’s world is disrupted when he finds out that Tyson is his Cyclops half-brother. The season is expected to end with the restoration of the camp’s defenses and the unexpected revival of Thalia.

In season 2 of Percy Jackson, Percy will be seen going on a perilous quest to retrieve the Golden Fleece. The Golden Fleece is a magical artifact with powerful healing abilities.

The journey has started to save Camp Half-Blood, whose protective barriers are weakening due to the poisoning of Thalia’s tree. Percy will be accompanied by Annabeth and his half-brother, Tyson.

Thalia Grace will be a significant character in the second season. However, her presence is going to be kept limited.

Transformed into a pine tree by her father, Zeus, to save her life, Thalia’s tree does the important job of serving as the magical barrier. Thalia, over time, will become a key figure in a prophecy concerning the fate of Olympus.

Filming Locations

Season 2 of Percy Jackson was largely filmed in British Columbia, Canada. Vancouver and its surrounding areas provided the perfect backdrop for the series’ mythological settings.

Key locations included Mammoth Studios in Burnaby for soundstage work. Downtown Vancouver also served as a stand-in for New York City, while Spanish Banks Beach was used for coastal scenes.

Season 2 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians is confirmed to have eight episodes. This is similar to the structure of season 1.

This information was confirmed by Rick Riordan and aligns with the series’ approach of adapting one book per season. The episode length makes sure that key plot points and character developments are thoroughly explored.
