Did you hear the news? Donald Trump has appointed “ambassadors” to represent Hollywood. They’re your favorites, and they have starred in iconic movies and taken on memorable characters.
Donald Trump has taken it upon himself to revitalize Hollywood. Keep reading and see the President’s plans and how he plans to achieve them.
In January 2025, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, appointed Jon Voight, Mel Gibson, and Sylvester Stallone as special ambassadors to Hollywood.
The initiative aims to address the challenges faced by Hollywood. These challenges include declining box office revenues and competition from streaming platforms.
A distinguished American actor, Jon Voight has earned his place in the industry with the help of his versatile performances across film and television. He first rose to fame with his portrayal of Joe Buck in the 1969 film Midnight Cowboy.
His career includes notable roles in Deliverance, Coming Home, and Runaway Train. He has won the Academy Award for Best Actor and an Oscar nomination.
Mel Gibson has marked his place in the entertainment industry with his powerful performances and out-of-the-box roles. He gained international fame with his role in the Mad Max series.
In 1995, Mel directed and starred in Braveheart, which got five nods in the Academy Awards. He has been awarded numerous accolades, including two Academy Awards for Best Director and Best Picture for Braveheart.
Who doesn’t know Sylvester Stallone? The man created and starred in the Rocky and Rambo film series, shining with talent.
Although he was born with partial facial paralysis, pursued acting and excelled in it. His breakthrough came with Rocky, which led to multiple sequels and more respect and fame for the actor.
Trump shared the news on the social platform Truth Social to name the ambassadors. He wrote, “It is my honor to announce that Jon Voight, Mel Gibson, and Sylvester Stallone will be Special Ambassadors to a great but very troubled place, Hollywood, California.”
He continued and added, “They will serve as Special Envoys to me for the purpose of bringing Hollywood, which has lost much business over the last four years, to Foreign Countries, BACK—BIGGER, BETTER, AND STRONGER THAN EVER BEFORE.”
Trump’s main aim is to revitalize the American film industry. He has expressed his desire to make Hollywood “bigger, better, and stronger.”
Production declines due to the COVID-19 pandemic have proved to be quite an obstacle to Hollywood’s success. To reverse the damage, Trump has appointed prominent figures hoping to use their influence to restore Hollywood’s glory.
Trump has made a public announcement saying that everyone should get ready for the “golden age” of Hollywood. We’re excited to see the changes that will be brought about by this change.
According to Trump, these actors will act as the administration’s “eyes and ears” in Hollywood. They’ll work to bring production back to the U.S. and strengthen the domestic film industry.
This move by Trump has elicited a diverse range of reactions from the public. Some consider these appointments as strategic, supporting the fact that Hollywood, over the years, has faced a reduction in its influence.
However, there are some skeptical perspectives, too. Some view the move as a publicity stunt rather than a crucial policy change.
Hollywood’s response has been cautious. The industry is still reeling from the impacts of the pandemic and recent labor strikes.
Hencee, there is uncertainty about the potential benefits of the appointment. While there are industry leaders who view the collaboration as positive, others remain doubtful about its practical implications.
From an outsider’s perspective, the inclusion of prominent figures could serve as a much-needed bridge between the entertainment industry and the administration. Dialogues on issues such as production incentives, intellectual property rights, etc. can be initiated.
The ambassadors chosen have valuable experience and have earned status. This gives them the right to offer valuable insight into the industry’s needs.
Jon has had his fair share of political involvement throughout his career. He penned an op-ed in The Washington Times expressing regret over his anti-war activism.
He also delivered a speech supporting Mitt Romney’s candidacy for president. He has also been an avid supporter of Trump, praising his various social media platforms.
Mel Gibson, just like Jon, has shown his support for Trump. During the 2024 elections, he stated, “I don’t think it’s gonna surprise anyone who I vote for.”
He has also expressed his critical stance towards certain political figures. Mel Gibson, unlike many others in the industry, hasn’t held back from expressing his genuine thoughts on political matters.
Sylvester Stallone has been seen attending several political events throughout his extensive career. In November 2024, Stallone attended a gala at Mar-a-Lago, where he showed his support for President-elect Donald Trump.
He referred to him as the “second George Washington.” And that speaks volumes about his political views and the party he supports.
The actor told Variety that he was more than ready to serve under Trump. He stated, “I got the tweet at the same time as all of you and was just as surprised.”
He went on to add, “Nevertheless, I heed the call. My duty as a citizen is to give any help and insight I can. Any chance the position comes with an Ambassador’s residence?”

Voight, in a statement to USA Today, said, “Very few films are made here now, but we are fortunate to have an incoming President who wants to restore Hollywood to its former glory, and with his help, I feel we can get done.”
It seems like Trump isn’t just limiting himself to actors, as singer Carrie Underwood was chosen to perform at Trump’s inauguration. Check out Carrie Underwood to perform at Trump’s inauguration for more information.
