Nashville’s music scene practically flowed through Ryan Follese’s veins.
Growing up surrounded by melody and lyrics wasn’t unusual, considering his parents, Adrienne and Keith Follese, were established songwriters.
Keith’s impressive credits include the double-platinum hit “Something Like That” for Tim McGraw, Faith Hill‘s crossover smash “The Way You Love Me,” and the chart-topping “Smile” by Lonestar.
This creative environment undoubtedly influenced Ryan, nurturing his own songwriting talent from a young age.
Meanwhile, Rory John Zak’s musical journey on the Carolina coast began a little differently. Hailing from North Carolina, Rory wasn’t just drawn to music; he seemed to possess a natural connection to it.
His “perfect pitch” ability, a rare talent for discerning precise musical notes, became readily apparent.
By 17, his passion for music took him to Myrtle Beach, where he landed a coveted spot as the youngest-ever full-time cast member of the Carolina Opry.
This legendary show, a staple of country music entertainment, gave Rory an invaluable platform to hone his performance skills.
He spent four years performing six nights a week, immersing himself in the world of country music and captivating audiences with his talent.
Rory said:
“My version of college was a place called the Carolina Opry, which is in Myrtle Beach, and why I moved down to Myrtle. I was singing six nights a week year-round, 300+ nights a week and then I would even go out after the show and play a club, doing my solo thing.”
Ryan co-wrote chart-topping hits and led the successful pop-rock band Hot Chelle Rae with their No. 7 hit song “Tonight, Tonight” in 2011; Rory built a dedicated fanbase through his relentless show schedule and solo career.
Ryan Follesé and Rory John Zak first met six years ago when Ryan performed before LOCASH, a country duo, in Tennessee.
Later, they crossed paths again through a mutual family friend. During their first phone conversation, which lasted just five minutes, they realized they shared a deep connection with music.
They both love the same type of music, especially duos like Brooks & Dunn.
Ryan said,
“We both have this; call it nostalgic, I don’t know what it is, but we have this really insanely soft spot in our heart for duos in general, just being such fans of Brooks & Dunn growing up and just ‘80s, ‘90s in general, into the 2000s.”
This shared love for old-school country music inspired them to collaborate. They believe that two voices singing together can create something magical.
Their partnership isn’t just about making music. It’s also about bringing back the classic country feeling while adding their own styles and experiences.
They want to keep the traditions they admire alive while also creating something new and exciting for today’s listeners.
Ryan and Rory are gearing up for an exciting future in the country music scene. They are set to release a new EP, showcasing their evolving musical style and storytelling.
Additionally, they have upcoming tours lined up, including a notable performance with Sam Hunt. Opening for Sam Hunt is like a dream come true for them.
They must feel excited and nervous because sharing a stage with someone as big as Sam Hunt is a big deal.
With their talent, dedication, and captivating stage presence, Ryan and Rory are poised for success.
Their ability to connect with audiences and craft meaningful music bodes well for their continued rise in the industry.
