Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan to appear on Barbra Streisand duets album?

Barbra Streisand

Barbra Streisand is one of the most celebrated actresses and singers of our time and not exactly someone you would think of as hobnobbing with country singers. However, it sounds like that's just what she's been doing lately.

A reader emailed me today and gave me an interesting tip. Seems Blake Shelton is set to appear on a new duets album Barbra Streisand is working on.

Hi. I really enjoy your site. I'm a Country Music fan, but also a Barbra Streisand fan. She's planning a duets album. Just found this:Lady Gaga, Beyonce, John Mayer, Stevie Wonder and more are set to appear on Barbra Streisand's new duets album, according to record producer Walter Afanasieff.

The producer posted the news on his website, saying "Co-producing with Kenny "babyface" Edmonds the new Barbra Streisand duets album. Which will feature singers and musicians like Lionel Richie, Babyface, Blake Shelton, Stevie Wonder, Josh Groban, Michael Buble, Lady Gaga, Better Midler, Andrea Bocelli, Beyonce, Billy Joel, John Mayer…"

Blake?! Worlds collide! LOL! Wonder what they'll sing?

Worlds collide indeed.

A link included in the email the tipster gave me was to Gigwise and the report mentions all of the above singers. Well that got me to thinking about a picture Luke Bryan had tweeted clear back in October that at the time gave no explanation other than saying "Pic of the week." The twitpic was a picture of Luke and Barbra Streisand. It was an odd picture, but with no explanation given I pretty much forgot about it … until now.

Hunter Hayes celebrates third consecutive #1 with ‘I Want Crazy’ (from the mailbag)

Hunter Hayes Billings

Multiple GRAMMY nominated country star Hunter Hayes is celebrating his third
consecutive No.1 hit single off his platinum-selling debut album with “I Want
Crazy” racing to the top of the Country Aircheck Mediabase chart this week. This
comes on the heels of the hit single and his Atlantic Records’ self-titled debut
album (ENCORE) both being certified platinum by the
RIAA in the same week. Hunter also entertained fans this weekend at the Montana
Fair with critics noting “From the moment Hayes slid across the stage in his
white T-shirt, skinny jeans and sneakers, Rimrock Auto Arena was filled with
young female voices screaming,” (Jaci Webb, Billings Gazette) and a
turnout of fans that topped the previous night’s attendance.
