One Piece (live-action) is getting a second season and we’re more than excited about this announcement. Season 1 exceeded fans’ expectations with an intriguing storyline, talented cast, and dynamic character arcs.
The same is expected from the upcoming season. Keep reading to find out more about the second season of this live adaptation.

The live-action adaptation of One Piece has been officially renewed for a second season. The season is anticipated to be released in 2025.
Even though no set date has been announced by Netflix, it’s expected to be released this year given the fact that the post-production work is finished in time. The series is projected to be ready for streaming before Christmas.
In season 2 the main cast is all set to reprise their original roles. We’ll see Inaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy along with Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro.
Emily Rudd will reprise her role as Nami and Taz Skylar will be playing Sanji once again. Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp is going to contribute to the season’s success.

The live adaptation of One Piece is going to feature Daniel Lasker as Mr. 9, and Camrus Johnson as Mr. 5.
Jazzara Jaslyn as Miss Valentine, and David Dastmalchian as Mr. 3 will also be joining. Scottish actor Clive Russell will be playing Crocus, Werner Coetser will be portraying Dorry and Brendan Murray will take on the role of Brogy.

Good news for manga lovers. The upcoming season is going to also feature the beloved character Tony Tony Chopper.
Chopper is a reindeer who ate the Hito Hito no Mi (Human-Human Fruit). He possesses the ability to turn into human-like forms, making him a unique addition to the crew.

To make sure that the character is authentically portrayed, Chopper will be featured with the help of CGI. This ensures that Chopper’s character stays true to his original design from the manga and anime.
The official casting for Chopper has still not been confirmed by Netflix. However, fans speculate that Christian Convery might take on the job.

Rigo Sanchez has been cast as Monkey D. Dragon in Netflix’s live-action adaptation of One Piece. The character of Monkey D. Dragon is the father of the protagonist Monkey D. Luffy.
Dragon is an important part of the storyline. His introduction to the live-action series is highly anticipated, making the storyline more intriguing.

Several notable cast additions have been announced by Netflix as a part of the second season. Key characters include Nefertari Vivi played by Charithra Chandran and Miss Goldenweek portrayed by Sophia Anne Caruso.
We’ll also see Mark Penwill playing the role of Chess, a member of the Baroque Works organization. Anton David Jeftha will be playing the character of Kuromarimo.

The Bridgerton star is more than excited to be a part of the upcoming season. Chandran in an announcement reel posted to the official One Piece Instagram account said, “I am so excited to be joining the cast of One Piece, and I feel incredibly grateful to Oda Sensei for trusting me with the role of Vivi.”
She continued to add, “I know how much she means to all of you and I am going to work my hardest to do her justice and make you all proud.”

One Piece season 2 will be jam-packed with action, intrigue, and drama. The season will adapt several key arcs from the manga and each is expected to contribute greatly to the Straw Hat Pirates’ Journey.
The seasons will explore Loguetown, Reverse Mountain, Little Garden, and Drum Island. These arcs are bound to bring new challenges.

It should be noted that the Alabasta arc won’t be featured in the upcoming season. The arc without a doubt, is a significant storyline in the original manga and anime.
This decision was made to ensure a thorough and faithful adaptation of the material. Preceding arcs can be more thoroughly explored this way.

Filming for the second season began in June 2024. The production is expected to conclude by December 2025.
This schedule aligns with the production timeline of season 1. Season 1 of One Piece was filmed for approximately six months and 22 days between January 31, 2022, and August 22, 2022.

The live adaptation of One Piece is taking place in Cape Town, South Africa. Most of the filming is being done at Cape Town Film Studios.
The production team is also utilizing New Vision Film Studios Africa (NVFSA) which is located at the Lourensford Estate in Somerset West, Cape Town. The varied world of One Piece is going to be depicted with great attention to detail.

The news of One Piece’s second season came a few weeks after season one hit the streamer. The creator Eiichiro Oda announced the news in a special video published on September 14, 2023.
The creator said, “It seems people around the world have been enjoying the show, which makes the hard work from the production team truly worth it. Two weeks after the launch, I just received some great news… Netflix has decided to renew the show.”

The showrunner Matt Owens teased the main theme for season 2 and said, “From Luffy’s perspective, he’s got his crew now, and they are setting out to the Grand Line. But the challenge and leadership is a big theme for us in Season 2.”
Not a manga adaptation but Netflix did announce a sequel for Black Doves. Check out Netflix announces a second season of Black Doves for more insights.
