A significant narrative change that puts Sidney back at the center of the narrative is signaled by her return. She has been trying to move past her traumatic background and has been the last girl to survive vicious Ghostface attacks for decades.

Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers
The outspoken journalist-turned-author Gale Weathers is back. Courteney Cox plays the same character as the original 1996 Scream. More times than anyone else, Gale has barely avoided Ghostface’s blade.
To keep ahead, she makes use of her keen intuition, quick wit, and unwavering ambition. After months of conjecture, her return was officially announced in December 2024. Cox said she was excited to work under Kevin Williamson’s leadership.

Matthew Lillard as Stu Mache
The return of Matthew Lillard as Stu Macher in Scream 7 is arguably the most unexpected. He was among the first Ghostface murderers in the 1996 film Scream. Following Lillard’s January 2025 teasing of his comeback, these speculations acquired even more support.
There is still plenty to learn about Stu’s role in Scream 7. There are countless opportunities when he returns. Because of this, he is among the most eagerly awaited characters in the sequel.

Scott Foley as Roman Bridger
Scott Foley is making a surprise comeback as Roman Bridger. He is the half-brother of Scream 3’s Ghostface killer and Sidney Prescott. Roman played a crucial role in the original trilogy. He turned out to be the genius behind everything that happened in the franchise.
He had coerced Stu Macher and Billy Loomis into carrying out the initial killings. But after Scream 3, Roman was shot and appeared to be dead. His homecoming is therefore a great mystery.

David Arquette as Dewey Riley
David Arquette is making a startling return as Dewey Riley. His comeback has sparked a lot of conjecture about how it will occur, despite the tragic event in Scream (2022) where Ghostface viciously killed him. One of the most tragic events in the franchise’s history was his passing.
Theories exist that Dewey may have staged his death to shield Sidney, but his on-screen death appeared definitive. Although the specifics are yet unknown, his inclusion in the movie gives it an emotional impact that devoted viewers will value.

Returning as Chad Meeks-Martin is Mason Gooding. One of the rare people who survived the recent Scream movies is him. A popular among the fans, Chad has shown himself to be tough and charming. He made it through both Scream and Scream 6.
Gooding has discussed his close relationship with co-star Jasmin Savoy Brown. Her role is that of Mindy, his twin sister. In Scream 7, the Meeks-Martin twins may play more important roles than ever before because they have survived several run-ins with Ghostface.

Jasmin Savoy Brown as Mindy Meeks-Martin
Returning as Mindy Meeks-Martin is Jasmin Savoy Brown. She is the witty horror specialist and Randy Meeks’s niece. Mindy is now the franchise’s resident horror enthusiast. Her remark on the “rules” of survival in the Scream universe is self-aware.
Brown is well-known outside of Scream for her outstanding performance in Yellowjackets on Showtime. Mindy’s intelligence and familiarity with the genre make her an essential character. She guides the group through Ghostface’s most recent murder rampage’s new regulations.

Joel McHale as Mark Evans
Joel McHale is a comedy actor who plays Mark Evans in Scream 7. He is the spouse of Sidney Prescott. This is the first time fans will see Mark on television, despite a quick reference to his role in Scream 5.
McHale expressed his excitement about joining the franchise in an Instagram post following the casting announcement. It’s difficult to tell whether Mark is just another target or if he has any secrets of his own given McHale’s skill at fusing comedy and drama.

Mark Consuelos Joins In
Mark Consuelos’s most well-known roles include his long-running work on All My Children and his portrayal of Hiram Lodge on Riverdale. He is now a member of the cast of Scream 7. However, the destiny and role of his character remain unknown.
Kelly Ripa, his wife, sent a lighthearted remark on social media. In jest, she said she was wondering if he would survive the movie or become a victim of Ghostface. This gives the suspense surrounding his part in the film a playful and enjoyable touch.

More Fresh Faces in the Franchise
In unexplained roles, Celeste O’Connor Mckenna Grace, and Asa Germann The ensemble cast is completed by Anna Camp and Sam Rechner. Their roles in Ghostface may be survivors, new victims, or even suspects due to their combined backgrounds in drama and horror.
With both returning favorites and new characters, Scream 7 is expected to be one of the most exciting and surprising editions to date.
Directorial Change
Kevin Williamson has taken over as the director of Scream 7, marking a major shift behind the camera. As the original writer of Scream, this will be his first time directing a film in the franchise.
His involvement comes after Christopher Landon who was initially set to direct announced his departure in December 2023 citing creative challenges that turned his “dream job into a nightmare.”
