Forget everything you thought you knew about Miranda Lambert. The country music powerhouse is shaking things up with a series of bold moves that signal a major turning point in her career.
From leaving her longtime record label to launching her own Texas-focused imprint, Lambert’s embarking on a daring new chapter fueled by a desire to reconnect with her artistic roots and empower rising talent.
Lambert took her final bow in Vegas and signed her first new record deal in more than 20 years, launching her into a new chapter.
Lambert explained it was “time to move on” from Sony Music Nashville, and her new partnership with Republic Records and Big Loud has offered her “new inspiration and new fire to make a new album.
Buckle up, because Miranda 2.0 is here, and she’s ready to blaze a fiery trail.
In a move that sent shockwaves through the industry last year (March 2023), Miranda Lambert made a bold decision to part ways with Sony Music Nashville, her longtime label since she was a teenager.
This desire for artistic independence continues to fuel her spirit of reinvention
According to Variety, she announced that she is leaving Sony Music Nashville. It’s a significant change for the singer, as she’s been with the company since the beginning of her career.
Lambert took to social media to share the news with her fans. As she wrote, she’s been with Sony since she was 19 years old. But, it’s time to make a change.
The singer posted a photo compilation on Instagram of all of the albums that she produced with the company.
Alongside the image, she wrote, “Over the last 20 years together we have released albums that allowed me to share my story with the world, and we’ve reached heights I’d never even dreamed were possible.”
The country singer didn’t say what she has planned for the next stage of her career. Although, she did tease that she “can’t wait” to see what happens next.
Lambert wrote, “I’m so thankful for our time together and everything they made possible for me, yet I wouldn’t be true to myself if I wasn’t constantly looking for the next challenge and a new way to stretch my creativity.
With that in mind, I’ve decided to say goodbye to my Sony family. I can’t wait to see what the next adventure holds.”
She describes her first record with Republic Records as “a real honky tonk record” and “the most ‘me’ record I’ve made in a really long time.”
Miranda Lambert is back with a fiery new sound, reminiscent of her early “Kerosene” days.
Her upcoming 10th studio album promises a return to her spunky roots, with the recently released single “Wranglers” serving as a taste of what’s to come.
“There’s always been a little bit of feisty on every record,”
Lambert shared with Country Living while promoting her Lone River partnership,
“But this song feels like it could go back to the Kerosene album or be right at home with ‘Gunpowder and Lead.’” She continued, “It’s definitely a throwback to my revenge days, and I absolutely love that.”
This new album isn’t just a musical shift; it reflects a period of personal transformation for Lambert.
The past year has been filled with significant changes, but according to the artist, they’ve all brought her closer to the core of her artistic identity.
Recorded in Austin’s Arlyn Studios, the upcoming album signifies Lambert’s eagerness to return to the road and reconnect with her fans.
Get ready to see her back on her trusty tour bus, Elvira, bringing the heat with brand new music and a renewed fire.
Touring since she was 19 years old, Lambert explains that her Velvet Rodeo Las Vegas residency was a welcome opportunity to slow down.
“I’ve been on the road for so long, but Vegas was a good break from the crazy grind of the road. We love it so much, but I’m also ready to get back in it and go back to what I know,” she explained.
As part of this new beginning, Lambert is shifting her focus back to her home state of Texas.
With the help of her Nashville-based record label, Big Loud Records, the “Mama’s Broken Heart” songstress is actively supporting the very music scene that kickstarted her own career.
She’s not stopping there. Partnering with longtime songwriting partner and fellow Texan, Jon Randall, Miranda launched her own imprint label: Big Loud Texas.
In this new venture, Lambert will serve as a mentor for the “amazing talent coming from that region and from that touring circuit.”
“I feel like we’ve got to keep it alive, because it isn’t only influential to country music, it’s influential to all genres,” she said of the Texas music scene.
Miranda Lambert Sets the ACM Stage Ablaze with “Wranglers”
Fresh off her fiery debut at the Stagecoach Festival alongside country legend Reba McEntire, Miranda Lambert brought the heat (quite literally, considering the cowboy hat) to the ACM Awards on Thursday night.
The audience roared as she belted out her latest revenge anthem, “Wranglers,” the first new single fans have gotten in two years.
This ain’t your grandma’s country song. “Wranglers” is a slow-burning inferno, a powerful anthem for anyone who’s ever needed to reclaim their power and maybe, just maybe, get a little payback on someone who wronged them.
“We’ve all been there, right?” Lambert said in a recent statement. “That moment when you gotta find your strength and maybe light a little fire under someone who messed with you.”
With lyrics that echo the sentiment of her 2007 hit “Gunpowder & Lead,” “Wranglers” reminds us that there’s a reason the saying goes “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.”
But Lambert isn’t just about revenge. This new track hints at a much bigger project on the horizon – her 10th full-length album, coming later this year.
She describes the upcoming music as “rowdy” and promises fans are in for a wild ride. “Get ready,” she warns. “We’re bringing the feels, the rhythms, and some seriously killer playing.”
With a show-stopping performance at the ACMs and a new album brewing, Miranda Lambert is proving she’s a force to be reckoned with. Buckle up, because this country queen is just getting started.
Lambert’s commitment to nurturing Texas talent extends beyond her own label.
Through her partnership with Lone River Beverage Co., she’s putting two of her mentees, Ashley Cooke and Kameron Marlowe, center stage at Lone River’s ACM kickoff event, Lone River Collective held on May 15th.
This event wasn’t just about music; it showcased the best of country and Texas culture, featuring Miranda Lambert and Lone River’s founder and CEO Katie Beal Brown, along with the launch of Blackberry Ranch Water – a nod to Lambert’s hometown of Lindale, formerly the Blackberry Capital of the World.
The event celebrates Texas and country music, featuring Miranda Lambert.
Lone River’s founder Katie Beal Brown joins the celebration with their new Blackberry Ranch Water, a nod to Lambert’s hometown, Lindale, once known as the Blackberry Capital of the World.
“I grew up picking blackberries in Lindale and canning them with my mom—and now I’m a big fan of muddling them in my cocktails,” Lambert shared.
“Knowing that this is a girl from Texas who started her own company and who’s really building something, our stories aligned in a way. It’s a lifestyle and we both love that lifestyle.” Lambert added
Adding to her busy schedule, Miranda Lambert is set to blend two of her favorites – music and dogs – when she launches an upcoming benefit concert Oct. 5 in Nashville, all in an effort to raise funds to help animals.
The five-time ACM Awards album of the year winner will welcome many of her animal-loving friends.
Fellow musicians to join her at Nashville’s Ascend Amphitheater for a show presented by Tractor Supply Company, with net proceeds from the concert benefiting Lambert’s MuttNation Foundation.
The full lineup of participating artists will be revealed at a later date.
Lambert and her mother Bev co-founded the MuttNation Foundation in 2009, and the organization has raised nearly $10 million to date to further its goal of supporting the welfare and adoption of shelter pets across the country.
MuttNation also financially supports and aids the work of transport partners to help relocate animals during natural disasters.
Additionally, the MuttNation Fueled by Miranda Lambert line of pet toys and supplies, which benefits the MuttNation Foundation, is available exclusively at Tractor Supply Company stores.
