Lainey Wilson has been on an absolute tear these past few years, and if anyone deserves a break, it’s her.
With chart-topping hits, sold-out shows, and award after award, the country star has built her name into one of the most recognizable in the business.
But even a force of nature like Lainey knows when to pause and hit reset.
In a recent NME interview, Wilson opened up about needing some downtime and why she’s looking forward to rediscovering what makes her, well, her.
Stick around to learn more.
Lainey just wrapped up her last performance before an extended break at Luke Bryan’s Crash My Playa event, where she brought her signature charm and energy to the stage.
Now, for the first time in what feels like forever, she’s taking two whole months off—a gap in her schedule she’s calling a “little miracle.”
She explained, “I’ve been touring solid since I was in eighth grade. I’ve been grinding for so long, and while I love it, I’ve learned it’s okay to give yourself permission to take a break.”
For Wilson, this break isn’t just a chance to rest her body after years of relentless touring—it’s an opportunity to reconnect with herself and where she comes from.
So, what does Lainey’s version of downtime look like?
Forget five-star vacations and over-the-top luxuries—Lainey’s heading straight to her farm, where life is about the simple things: good coffee, slow mornings, and wide-open spaces.
“I’m looking forward to sitting around a bonfire at night, waking up late, and sitting on the porch with my dog,” she shared. “I need to get bored.”
You heard that right—this country star is planning for boredom. But she’s not dreading it.
For her, it’s the key to recharging and, surprisingly, sparking creativity.

Lainey has always been a songwriter at heart. Even with her demanding tour schedule, she’s managed to write hit after hit while on the road.
But something about stepping away from the hustle has her excited to see what fresh ideas might emerge when she’s back home.
“I’ve always written on the go, and it’s worked great,” she explained. “But I haven’t had that time in years—years—to just sit with myself and see what happens creatively when I’m not running a hundred miles an hour.”
Fans can only imagine what kind of music she’ll create once she’s rested and refocused.
Lainey won’t be spending her break alone, either. She’ll have some quality time with her boyfriend, former NFL quarterback Devlin “Duck” Hodges.
The two made their red-carpet debut at the ACM Awards last year and have since charmed fans with their playful and supportive relationship.
Between Duck and her trusty dog, Lainey’s got her “little pack” by her side as she leans into life’s simpler joys.
“I just want to live for a little while—wake up, feed the animals, go on a walk, write a little if I feel like it, and just enjoy my people.”
This isn’t the end of her whirlwind schedule, though. In early March, Wilson kicks off her European tour, taking her music across the pond to fans eagerly waiting to see her live.
“It’s always been a dream of mine to take my music outside of the U.S., and I can’t wait to share these moments with the fans in Europe,” she said.
But until then, she’s determined to soak up every second of her time off.
Moreover, Lainey Wilson continues to reign at the top, holding the No. 1 position on the MusicRow CountryBreakout Radio Chart for another week with her hit song “4x4xU.”
This track, featured on her latest album Whirlwind, was co-written by Wilson, Jon Decious, and Aaron Raitiere.
Recently, Wilson shared the stage with Jelly Roll at Tennessee’s Riverbend Maximum Security Institution, performing for an audience of over 300 inmates as part of a powerful show of support for second chances.
The song is also making waves on other major charts, ranking No. 12 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart and No. 7 on Mediabase, further solidifying Wilson’s dominance in the country music scene.
Lainey Wilson’s honesty about needing rest and embracing balance is a lesson we can all take to heart.
Even someone as unstoppable as Lainey recognizes the importance of slowing down.
It’s not just about recharging physically—it’s about reconnecting with your roots, refilling your creative cup, and remembering why you started chasing your dreams in the first place.
Fans can keep up with Lainey’s farm adventures, bonfire nights, and downtime with Duck on Instagram.
And who knows? The next time she picks up her guitar, we might just get some of the most heartfelt, inspired music yet.
Here’s to Lainey taking the time she’s earned—because if her past work is anything to go by, what’s coming next will be worth the wait.
