Country music darling Lainey Wilson has had a whirlwind year, chart-topping hits, award wins, and now, a shiny new engagement ring.
The “Heart Like a Truck” singer and her longtime beau, former NFL quarterback Devlin “Duck” Hodges, got engaged in February 2025 in a setting that was as sweet and sentimental as it gets.
In true Lainey fashion, the proposal wasn’t a flashy spectacle for social media. Instead, it was an intimate, heartfelt moment shared at a place close to the couple’s hearts: the historic George Jones estate in Franklin, Tennessee.
At a celebration for her No. 1 hits “4x4xU” and “Wildflowers and Wild Horses,” Lainey Wilson shared the emotional backstory of the day she got engaged.
She had a strong feeling about it and even rang up her sister, excitedly predicting what might be on the horizon.
“I called my sister and was like, ‘I think he’s going to propose to me today.’ She was like, ‘I’ve got to go,'” she recalled, laughing.
But in an effort not to get her hopes up, Wilson brushed the thought aside, temporarily, at least. As it turns out, her gut feeling was spot on. Duck popped the question that very day, right there on the front porch of the Possum’s famous mansion.
The choice of location wasn’t random. The couple had been wanting to visit the George Jones estate for quite some time.
“We had been wanting to go see the George Jones estate for quite some time,” Wilson shared. “His buddy had it listed for sale.”
Returning from the Super Bowl, Hodges casually suggested the visit. Wilson didn’t think much of it at first, until they arrived. That’s when the plan fully revealed itself.
“As we pull up, I realized there were different plans,” she said. “He had it all set up. He had the candles and the picture frames. It could not have been more perfect.”

If you’re wondering when wedding bells might ring, the answer is: not anytime soon.
Between red carpets, sold-out shows, and a thriving career, Wilson hasn’t had a moment to dive into wedding planning, and she’s not too worried about it.
“We haven’t even started planning,” she admitted. “We need to really sit down and make that a priority, but I’m sure it will be something that’s just really simple.”
What wasn’t simple, though? That ring.
Even though Wilson had jokingly sent Hodges pictures of massive engagement rings, she never expected him to go all out. But he did, and then some.
“As a joke, I had texted him some big rings,” she said. “He was like, ‘Lord, I better start saving now!'”
Fortunately, they’ve been together for four years, so Duck had plenty of time to plan and save. In fact, he went a step further and personally designed the stunning sparkler, combining some of Wilson’s joke picks into one dazzling piece.
“He designed it and put some of those rings together that I sent him,” Wilson shared. “I would have said yes if it was just a tiny little thing.”
The custom ring was crafted by Hollie Winter Fine Jewelry, a boutique Nashville-based jeweler known for one-of-a-kind diamond designs.
Although the couple hasn’t disclosed the price tag, experts estimate the piece could be worth anywhere from $15,000 to $100,000, depending on the size, clarity, and custom features of the diamonds.
The couple’s love story has all the charm of a country song. Let’s rewind a bit, shall we?
2021: The pair met through mutual friends and had their first date at a now-closed bar called Silverados.
“It had free beer and wine from 5 to 10 PM,” Wilson recalled in an interview. “I was like, ‘This boy likes to ball on a budget, too. This is gonna work out!”
Late 2022: Wilson’s rising fame led to increased public scrutiny, particularly after she landed a role on Yellowstone and shared an on-screen kiss.
“He ain’t gonna like me smackin’ a kiss on nobody,” Wilson said of Duck’s reaction, “but he also knows that I have worked really hard for opportunities… He’s like, ‘At the end of the day, I love you … you do what you gotta do.’”
April 2023: At a Pittsburgh show, Wilson and her band wore Hodges’ Steelers jersey, a not-so-subtle nod that fans definitely noticed.
May 2023: The couple went public at the ACM Awards, and though their red-carpet hug was a little awkward, it confirmed what fans suspected.
Late 2023: Wilson and Hodges moved in together on her farm just outside Nashville. And no, Duck’s not just lounging around.
“I put him to work,” Wilson said with a laugh. “Take the trash out, mow the yard, do something with the flower beds, feed the dog.”
August 2024: Wilson even wrote a song for him, titled “Counting Chickens,” joking, “I guess I’m going to have to propose to his ass, because he ain’t proposed to me.”
Little did she know, the proposal was already in the works.

For Wilson, love isn’t about flashy displays or social media-perfect moments. It’s about partnership, humor, and staying grounded, all values she holds close as her star continues to rise.
And though there’s no official wedding date yet, one thing’s for sure: when Lainey Wilson does tie the knot, it’ll be as heartfelt, intentional, and true to herself as her songs.
Until then, she’s just enjoying the ride and the ring.
