Victoria’s Secret made a comeback after a hiatus since 2018 and let’s say our excitement was off the charts. This year, the show took a new perspective, promising more diversity, inclusivity, and fashion updates.

Hosted in the heart of America, New York City, Victoria’s Secret made a comeback after a 6-year hiatus on Tuesday, October 15, 2024. The last show being held in 2018, this year’s Victoria Secret didn’t disappoint providing its guests with a fun night of glamour, music, and fashion.

NYC is also where Victoria’s Secret flagship store and downtown headquarters are located.

Opening Act

Who is more deserving than Gigi Hadid when it comes to setting the perfect sophisticated image for a fun and fashionable night? The star donned a matching pink silk set with electronic pink wings of course.

With the help of Gigi, the show started with a memorable bang, and the crowd was reeled in for the next 45 minutes or so.

Performances

The stage was set ablaze with eclectic energy by Lisa and Tyla. K-pop sensation and Blackpink member, Lisa took to the stage with a motorbike along with leather-clad dancers.

Later on, the energy and hype were continued by Tyla, who sang in her melodious voice wearing a soft and embellished lingerie set with fluffy wings. And Cher also graced the show with her angelic voice in an all-black outfit.

Doutzen Kroes Shoe Malfunction

Similar to Carrie Bradshaw, Doutzen Kroes also had her runaway moment as her shoe got stuck during the show. The 39-year-old model had her heel stuck in a crack but that couldn’t stop her from shining on the runway.

The Dutch supermodel was seen to handle the situation with grace, as she bent down to release her heel, and continued with the show as if nothing happened.

Adriana Lima Made a Comeback

Everyone’s favorite, Adriana Lima, graced this year’s Victoria’s Secret show wearing a high ponytail and a criss-cross black innerwear set. Lima is known to be one of the most prominent figures and was selected as a secret angel in 2000, one year after her joining.

The model’s second runway look included a red-hot innerwear with a sweetheart neckline.

We Got to See Irina Shayk Again

Irina Shayk was last seen on Victoria’s Secret runway in 2016 when she quite memorably concealed her baby bump. Now after several years, she once again walked in a star-covered one piece with 3D stars surrounding her.

She made quite an impression on the audience and honestly, nothing less could be expected from her.

Kate and Lila Made Their VS Debut

Who knew the 50-year-old model still had it? Kate Moss was seen walking her first-ever Victoria’s Secret runway show in a jet-black lace dress with a train. Lila Moss, her daughter, also walked alongside her mother during the fashion show.

The young model also made her debut for Miu Miu in 2020 and since then all we’ve heard is praise and nothing else.

Bella Hadid Surprised Everyone

Both the Hadid sisters on the runway? It seems like a dream come true. Nobody expected the model to make a comeback, unlike her sister Gigi Hadid, who dropped hints here and there.

But when it came to Bella, there was utmost silence, hence, the surprise on everyone’s face when she walked down the runway in a vibrant cherry red lacy innerwear and an oversized feathery coat that had a dramatic long tail.

Taylor Hill in Pajama Pants

If there’s one OG who never misses a beat at every Victoria’s Secret show, it’s Taylor Hill. She owned the runway in pink pajama pants and lacy innerwear, looking totally at ease.

The look was completed with crystal-studded silver innerwear and playful bow-shaped wings adorned with beaded fringe, giving her a standout vibe.

Plus-size Inclusivity

This year’s VS show was all about inclusivity, especially more toward the representation of all body types. To showcase the message, stars like Ashely Grahams and Paloma Elesser amongst several others.

Paloma described the show as a “fresh start and a new vision for this future”. However, fans thought differently as they pointed out that giving the runway to three to four plus-sized models doesn’t make you inclusive.

And according to many, these plus-sized models were “covered” more than their thinner colleagues who were seen donning revealing bikinis.

What’s New in Fashion

The first atelier designer for the VS show was Joseph Altuzarra and several praises were heard of his work. His designs were said to be all about elegance and sophistication.

Gigi Hadid and Anok-Yai were wearing his designed oversized wings and petal-like skirt. However, viewers were a little disappointed due to the lack of playfulness and whimsical designs.

No Better Spouse Than Dylan Sprouse

Everyone needs a supportive husband like Dylan Sprouse. The actor was seen cheering on her wife and model, Barbara Palvin with the cutouts of their “kids” also known as their pets during her runway walk.

The former Disney star joked about his poor DIY skills on the pink carpet. However, nothing stops in the way of true love, not even bad arts and crafts.

Closing Act

As the stage simmered down and cleared, the Top Model herself, Tyra Banks made a fierce appearance. The icon was elevated from the ground in a glittering corset, leggings, and metallic cape.

Talk about a dapper combination. The model won over the runway bidding goodbye to the audience with 52 models followed behind her.
