Queen Latifah, a previous Kennedy Center honoree, hosted the 2024 Kennedy Center Honors. Queen Latifah is a trailblazer in the entertainment industry and is well-known for her warm energy.
That’s why, she was the perfect fit, bringing warmth and fun to the evening. With skillful finesse, Latifah guided the audience through the evening.

Francis has made remarkable contributions to the filmmaking industry and was honored at the 2024 Kennedy Center Honors. Francis didn’t keep himself limited to just the mafia, as he’s also outdone himself in masterpieces like Apocalypse Now and The Conversation.

Besides their music, their live performances reshaped the live music performance culture, raising the standard. At the Kennedy Center Honors, the band was honored for their enduring legacy.

Dave Mathews and Maggie Rogers took the stage to honor the legacy of the Grateful Dead. A soul-stirring rendition of Ripple was performed by Dave Mathews, reminding the audience of the timeless spirit of the band’s writing.

Bonnie Raitt has made remarkable contributions to American music for over five decades now. Her most-loved hits, Something to Talk About, I Can’t Make You Love Me, and Nick of Time will always be iconic.
Besides her soulful voice and electrifying live performances, Bonnie has made her mark in a male-dominated genre of blues and rocks. She is the standard for aspiring artists.

Raitt was honored during the star-filled evening by none other than Emmylou Harris and Sheryl Crow. Emmylou Harris sang a moving rendition of Angel from Montgomery.
The infectious energy and enduring influence of Raitt’s artistry were showcased by a live performance of Something to Talk About by Sheryl Crow. Heartfelt testimonials were about Raitt’s generosity and talent.

Arturo Sandoval, over the timespan of his career, has made numerous contributions to music, Latin jazz in particular. From humble beginnings to global acclaim, Arturo Sandoval achieved it all.
Sandoval is the bearer of numerous Grammy Awards, an Emmy, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Sandoval has performed alongside icons like Frank Sinatra and the likes of Celia Cruz.

A stellar lineup of musicians, including Wynton Marsalis and Paquito D’Rivera, paid a moving homage to Sandoval. A dynamic trumpet was performed by Marsalis, reminding the audience of Sandoval’s technical brilliance.
Paquito D’Rivera took things up a notch by adding an Afro-Cuban flair with his saxophone, paying tribute to the vibrant rhythms that were championed by Sandoval throughout his career. Sandoval himself graced the stage as he delivered a mesmerizing solo on his trumpet.

The Apollo Theater is said to be a place where amateurs become stars and pros become legends. This landmark institution located in Harlem, was honored at the 2024 Kennedy Center Honors.
The theater opened in 1934, and since then, it has made numerous contributions when it came to paving the way for artists, especially black aspiring artists. For the longest time, this place in Harlem has long been at the heart of American cultural life.

Artists Savion Glover and The War and Treaty came forward on the stage to honor the legacy of the institution. Savian Glover, a man of impeccable talent in tap dancing and choreographing, showcased Apollo’s deep ties to African American dance traditions.
Similarly, the acclaimed Americana duo took the stage and gave a moving performance highlighting Apollo’s influence on diverse genres of music. Reflections from artists followed the performances, who shared about Apollo’s impact on diverse music genres.

A unique and comedic touch was given to the evening as Dave Chappelle narrated about his early experiences performing at the Apollo Theater. He reflected on the theater’s rich history, a heartfelt anecdote about the “Amateur Night” at Apollo, and the institution’s role as a beacon of opportunity for aspiring artists.
His elaborate reflection added a deeply personal element to the evening. And a fun flair was given to the celebration.

The audience enjoyed a dose of comedic relief as David Letterman made it to the stage. David Letterman has a knack for turning even the driest of events into fun ones with his satirical humor and dry wit.
He especially highlighted the political climate but with the perfect touch of humor, making the audience laugh.

Ex-President Joe Biden, along with Lady Jill Biden, were also in attendance at the 2024 Kennedy Center Honors. This marked the final Kennedy Center Honors of Biden’s presidential term.
Kamala Harris was also among the audience, seen wearing a silver and black dress. The ex-President shared his thoughts and admiration for the enduring contributions of each honoree.
