Country music fans, get ready for a truly special moment at the 60th Academy of Country Music Awards.

On Thursday, May 8, global country star Keith Urban will be awarded one of the ACM’s most exclusive honors, the Triple Crown Award. And it’s not just any award, it’s one that only 11 other artists have ever received in ACM history.

For Urban, this moment is more than a personal milestone. It’s the celebration of a career built on passion, persistence, and an enduring connection with fans all over the world.

What Is the ACM Triple Crown Award?

Let’s break it down. To qualify for the Triple Crown, an artist must win:

    • New Artist of the Year (or its equivalent)
    • Artist of the Year (in their category)
    • And the coveted Entertainer of the Year award

That’s not easy to accomplish; in fact, very few have. Keith Urban checked all three boxes:

    • He was named Top New Male Vocalist in 2001
    • He won Male Vocalist of the Year in both 2005 and 2006
    • And he finally earned Entertainer of the Year in 2019

This award puts Urban in elite company and marks a record-setting 18-year span between his first qualifying win and his last. No other artist has taken that long to complete the trio. It’s proof of Urban’s long-standing impact on the country music scene.

    Celebrating an International Trailblazer

Here’s something remarkable: Keith Urban is the first non-American ever to receive the ACM Triple Crown Award.

Born in New Zealand and raised in Australia, Urban had a dream from a young age: to make it big in Nashville, the heart of country music.

“I came halfway around the world to live in Nashville,” he shared. “It was my dream since I was seven years old.”

He moved to Music City in 1992 and never looked back. His goal? To write songs, get them heard, and connect with people through music, whether on the radio or streaming platforms. Now, decades later, he’s one of the most beloved figures in the genre.

From Humble Beginnings to Global Star

Urban remembers his early days clearly. He recalls how surreal it felt to even see his name in the nominations.

“It felt like when you go to the theme park and get your face on a fake Time Magazine cover,” he joked. “It wasn’t real. It had that surreal quality.”

But it was real. And the wins kept coming.

Urban has notched 20 No. 1 hits on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart and performed to sold-out crowds around the world. He’s become a staple in country music, known for his guitar skills, heartfelt lyrics, and down-to-earth attitude.

An Emotional Entertainer of the Year Win

Urban’s Entertainer of the Year win in 2019 was especially emotional. It came after eight previous nominations with no wins. He admits he didn’t expect much that year.

“I would just celebrate the nomination,” he said. “Not really thinking I’m going to win, and I was good with that.”

But when he finally heard his name called, it became a night he’d never forget, made even more meaningful because it happened just before the world shut down due to COVID.

A Star-Studded Tribute at the 2025 ACM Awards

Keith won’t be celebrating alone. At the ACM Awards ceremony, he’ll be honored by a trio of talented artists: Brothers Osborne, Chris Stapleton, and Megan Moroney.

Expect a touching tribute and maybe even a performance or two that’ll bring down the house.

Interestingly, this is the first time since Carrie Underwood in 2010 that the Triple Crown Award is being presented during the live ACM Awards broadcast. In recent years, the honor has usually been reserved for the ACM Honors in August, as it was for Lainey Wilson last year.

Inspiring a New Generation of Dreamers

Urban hopes that his story inspires other international artists who dream of making it big in the U.S. country scene.

“If it inspires some people from other countries who have a dream of coming to America, then that’s a good thing,” he said. “It’s absolutely achievable if you’re willing to put in the hard work and the time.”

He’s living proof that determination, authenticity, and a love for music can truly take you places, even if those places are half a world away.

Keith Urban Is Back on Tour

And the timing couldn’t be better. Urban is about to hit the road again for his High and Alive World Tour, his first tour in three years. It kicks off on May 22 in Orange Beach, Alabama, and fans are already buzzing with excitement.

    When and Where to Watch

Don’t miss the celebration. The 2025 ACM Awards, hosted by the iconic Reba McEntire, will stream live on May 8 across 240+ countries and territories. You can catch it on Prime Video and the Amazon Music channel on Twitch at:

The event will broadcast from the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas. Produced by Dick Clark Productions, the ACMs promise unforgettable performances, emotional wins, and moments of pure country magic.

    TL;DR

    • Keith Urban will receive the prestigious Triple Crown Award at the 2025 ACM Awards, a rare honor achieved by only 11 other artists.
    • He is the first non-American to earn this distinction, showing that global talent can thrive in country music.
