On October 1, 2024, former U.S. President Jimmy Carter turned 100 years old.

This is a big milestone because Carter is the first president in U.S. history to reach this age.

Many people across the world admire him for his lifetime of service and generosity.

Country music stars Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood, who have been close friends with Jimmy and his late wife, Rosalynn Carter, were excited to celebrate this special day.

    Helping with Habitat for Humanity

To honor President Carter’s legacy, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood were working hard as volunteers for the Carter Work Project in St. Paul, Minnesota.

This project is part of Habitat for Humanity, an organization that builds affordable homes for families in need.

Garth and Trisha are strong supporters of this cause, just like President Carter has been for many years.

The Carter Work Project has been around for 40 years, and even though President Carter couldn’t attend this time due to his age, his spirit was still present.

The volunteers worked together to build 30 new homes for families.

Garth Brooks shared how meaningful it was to be part of the project, especially on President Carter’s 100th birthday.

    A Special Birthday Tribute

Even though Jimmy Carter wasn’t there in person, the thousands of volunteers made sure to make his birthday special.

Garth Brooks explained that everyone at the site joined together to sing “Happy Birthday” to President Carter. He called it “a pretty cool moment.”

Trisha Yearwood added that they’ve sent virtual birthday messages to Carter many times, hoping he would feel the love and respect from all the people he’s inspired.

The day was a beautiful way to celebrate both his birthday and the amazing work he’s done for others.

    The Legacy of Jimmy Carter

Garth Brooks spoke about what makes President Carter so special.

He said that when people talk about Carter, they often talk about three main things: his strong faith, his love for music, and the important role he played in history.

Carter, who was the 39th president of the United States, is known for being kind, hardworking, and always willing to help others.

President Carter has been a huge supporter of Habitat for Humanity, helping to build homes for those in need for decades.

Even though he is 100 years old now, his work still inspires people around the world.

    Carter’s Determination and Strength

Despite his age, President Carter has always been known for his strength and determination.

Jonathan Reckford, the CEO of Habitat for Humanity International, shared a story about Carter’s dedication.

A few years ago, during a project in Canada, Carter became dizzy while working on building homes.

The team was worried and quickly sent him away to rest, but Carter didn’t want to stop.

He even called Jonathan later, irritated, and told him, “Tell them, ‘I’m fine, get back to work.’”

This shows just how strong and committed President Carter is to helping others, even when things get tough.

    “He’s Gonna Live Forever”

Garth Brooks is hopeful that Jimmy Carter’s legacy will live on forever. He believes Carter’s impact on the world will never be forgotten.

During the birthday celebration, Brooks remarked that Carter “is gonna live forever” because of all the lives he has touched.

Both Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood have been deeply inspired by the former president.

They are grateful for the many years they’ve worked alongside him, building homes and helping others through Habitat for Humanity.

In a special message shared on social media, Brooks thanked President Carter for his service and his ongoing work to make the world a better place.

Celebrating Jimmy Carter’s 100th Birthday with Giving and Service

In honor of President Jimmy Carter’s 100th birthday on October 1, a series of charitable events have taken place, reflecting his lifelong commitment to philanthropy.

Instead of focusing on receiving gifts, Carter has encouraged others to give to those in need.

One of the key celebrations was a star-studded concert at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre, raising $1.2 million to support international programs of The Carter Center.

This Center was founded by Carter and his wife Rosalynn in 1982 to promote peace, fight disease, and bring hope to communities.

Additionally, thousands of volunteers gathered in St. Paul, Minnesota, to build 30 homes in just five days as part of Habitat for Humanity.

Led by country stars Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood, this build continued a tradition Carter and his wife began in 1984 when they first joined a Habitat project in New York City.

Carter’s hands-on approach, including sleeping in church basements while working on builds, captured worldwide attention and inspired countless volunteers.

For 35 years, the Carters worked annually on Habitat projects, putting their Christian faith into action and leaving a lasting impact.

Jimmy Carter: Continuing a Life of Service

Jimmy Carter is often seen as a prime example of what post-presidential life can be.

Many consider him one of the greatest former presidents due to his strong advocacy for human rights and various charitable initiatives.

In 1982, he founded the Carter Presidential Center at Emory University in Atlanta, focusing on democracy and human rights.

He has also worked with Habitat for Humanity International, helping to provide housing for those in need.

Carter has used his experience with international crises to serve as a freelance ambassador, mediating disputes, observing elections, and advising leaders on Middle Eastern issues.

Notably, he played a key role in resolving a nuclear weapons dispute with North Korea in 1994.

In addition to his humanitarian work, Carter has authored several books.

These include Keeping Faith: Memoirs of a President (1983) and An Hour Before Daylight (2001), continuing to make a positive impact long after leaving office.
