Initial Release Date of ‘Do No Wrong’

Liam Payne’s first posthumous single, Do No Wrong, was set for release on Friday, Nov 1. This came two weeks after the former One Direction star’s tragic death in Argentina.

The single is a collaboration with US artist Sam Pounds and includes three versions: a live mix, a cappella, and a standard track. All versions feature Payne’s vocals.

Waiting for the Right Time

On October 29, Sam Pounds shared on social media that he’s decided to delay releasing his duet with Liam Payne. He expressed that he’ll wait until Payne’s family feels ready and comfortable with moving forward with the track.

 “Even though we all love the song it’s not the time yet. We are all still mourning the passing of Liam and I want the family to mourn in peace and in prayer. We will all wait.”

Circumstances of Liam Payne’s Death

The 31-year-old passed away earlier this month after falling from a third-floor balcony at the Casa Sur Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was in Argentina to support his friend Niall Horan at a concert.

Payne died as a result of “multiple traumatic injuries” and “internal and external bleeding,” he sustained after falling from the balcony, according to the release from the prosecutor’s office. 

“He did not adopt a reflexive posture to protect himself and that he could have fallen into a state of semi- or total unconsciousness.”

Liam’s Fight Against Addiction

Payne had previously been open about his struggles with Substance abuse and addiction. These challenges followed his rapid rise to fame as a teenager.

Police reported they were called to the hotel following complaints about an “aggressive man.” The individual was suspected of being under the influence of a substance.

Sam Pounds Shares His Thoughts about “Do No Wrong”

Sharing the upcoming track’s artwork, an angel with a broken heart above its head, on X/Twitter, Sam wrote: “I pray that this will be a blessing to the world like Liam has always dreamed. I pray angels will comfort you all everyday while listening.”

Pounds also expressed gratitude for their time spent in the studio together. He said, “I can’t believe you are gone.”

Finding Solace Through Music

Pounds shared his hopes for the track on social media. He expressed a desire for it to “eclipse the negative echoes” surrounding Payne’s passing and bring solace to his family.

Payne’s father, Geoff, traveled to Argentina on October 18 to identify his son. He will bring Liam’s body back to the UK once it has been released by Argentinian officials which is expected this week.

Chris Brown’s Touching Words

Sam recently revealed to his Instagram followers that Liam was keen to get Chris Brown to feature on ‘Do No Wrong’. Brown was apparently a friend of Liam Payne.

Chris Brown took to his Instagram Story following the news to say “Love you brother. Glad I had the pleasure of hanging with you several times and you were always humble and a joyful person. Rest up my BRO.”

Navigating a Difficult Path

Liam had been struggling in his music career in recent years. He recorded a follow-up to his 2019 debut album, LP1, but reports indicated that the record was shelved after the first single, “Teardrops,” failed to chart in March.
