Dover was raised in Rome, Georgia, on November 29, 1997, to the melodies of bluegrass, Appalachian folk, and classic country.

Dover takes a great deal of inspiration from the country music of the 1990s, particularly from Keith Whitely, Luke Comb, and Vince Gill.
