One of the biggest musical festivals of the year is coming up this spring, and the first week tickets are already completely sold out. Coachella isn’t just about the latest music and seeing your favorite bands up close and personal, it’s an entire event that happens annually that pretty much everyone looks forward to. With everyone excited about the Indio music festival, Here are 10 things to expect at Coachella 2020:
1. Massive Turnouts
With Coachella being hosted at the 250-acre Empire Polo Club in California, the massive arena will be filled with over 100,000 people. In order to be able to play live to that enormous crowd, these audio experts are expecting impeccable gear to make sure the sound is of the highest quality. With Coachella depending on the good music, the quality of the sound needs to be flawless, especially with these large crowds and enormous space.
2. Fine Lineup
The lineup has already been announced, but expect them to leave you in awe with their amazing performances. With the headliners being Rage Against the Machine, Travis Scott and Frank Ocean, except the music and performances to be absolutely wild. There will also be many other exceptional artists such as Megan Thee Stallion, Calvin Harris, Run the Jewels, Flume, Disclosure, 21 Savage, Louis the Child and even featuring 88rising’s Double Happiness on Saturday.
3. Great Food
A festival isn’t just about the music; the entertainment goes far beyond. There is no festival without some of the best food in town making an appearance. In 2019, some of the best food options included tacos, vegan burgers, ice cream, fried chicken burgers, and even Japanese sandos. This year we’re expecting the food to be even better!
4. Less Female Artists
It’s no surprise that the ratio of female artists to male artists is ridiculously low, but the numbers are even lower than usual. While some awesome female artists have been announced in the lineup such as Lana Del Ray, there are no women headliners taking part in Coachella’s music festival this year.
5. Celebrities
Be prepared to bump into celebrities at Coachella 2020. While they will have VIP tickets and probably backstage access, you’ll find them enjoying the festival, just like anyone else. Last year, celebrities such as Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, Ashlee Simpson, Vanessa Hudgens and Cardi B were spotted amongst others at Coachella and this year other celebrities are expected to make an appearance, too.
6. Rage against the Machine Will make their First Appearance in 8 Years
This legendary band will be performing for the first time in eight years at Coachella 2020. It’s a bit surprising, especially as they’re an influential rock band and this music festival tends to be light on the rock.
7. Soundtracks from your Favorite Movies Will Come to Life
Composer Danny Elfman will be jamming his famous soundtracks in a live performance where you’ll get to hear The Simpsons theme song, the soundtrack from The Nightmare Before Christmas and the only good thing about Fifty Shades of Grey -its music- being played at Coachella 2020.
8. A Projection of an Internet Superstar Anime Will Make an Appearance on a Real-life Stage
The influential superstar Hatsune Miku is only 16, but already internet-famous. You’ll be surprised to know that this Japanese pop star isn’t even real. She’s the face of the software program Vocaloid and has videos that have gone viral making her an internet sensation. Her concerts are so much fun, as she sings and dances and even transforms into a winged angel or rises towards the ceiling and disappears with special effects.
9. BIGBANG is Back in the Scene
The Korean pop band was a huge hit and even made it to the billboards in the U.S. But the group has been inactive for a while and their first appearance will be at Coachella, with only 4 members instead of 5.
10. Large Scale Art Installations
To make the weekend even more artistic, there will be art installations done on a huge scale by Architensions, Cristopher Cichocki, Kiki Van Eijek, Estudio Normal, Dana Stanescu, NEWSUBSTNCE, Do Lab, and Robert Bose to give you an unforgettable artistic vibe.
