Today, the country music industry, State of Texas, and friends, family, and fans of thirty-year-old singer-songwriter Kylie Rae Harris are mourning the untimely loss of the beloved artist. Sadly, reports have been confirmed that Harris passed away in a three-vehicle accident in New Mexico, following the beautiful and talented artist’s performance at a festival in Taos.
Harris’ rep shared with Billboard:
We are heartbroken to confirm that Kylie Rae Harris passed away in a car accident last night. We have no further details to share, and ask for privacy for her family at this time. Everyone that knew Kylie knew how much she loved her family and, beyond that, how much she loved music. The best tribute to her unmatched enthusiasm for both is to spread as much love as you can today, and listen to music that fully inspires you.
Country music star, Maren Morris, was one of many to post a heartfelt message about this tragic loss in our community:
I just heard the news and I’m in shock. @kylierh, you have always been so sweet and supportive of me. Your soulful voice and Texas beauty was always jaw-dropping, even when we were teenagers at the Larry Joe Taylor festival. Thinking of your family and your precious baby girl right now. Rest In Peace.
On her final day, Harris took to her Instagram story to speak of fond memories of Taos, a place where she spent much of her life, along side family members.
According to the Taos Sheriff’s Department, Harris and another driver, a sixteen-year-old female, both lost their lives in the accident, while a third driver was unharmed. Harris is survived by a six-year-old daughter, Corbie, who is already receiving an outpouring of support via GoFundMe.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Harris’ friends, family, fans, and colleagues as everyone tries to make sense of this unimaginable tragedy. Remember that tomorrow is never promised, so hug each other, speak kindly of and to one another, and never let a day go by without telling those you love how much they mean to you.
