Taylor Swift’s Dixie Chicks collaboration is super touching and you’re probably not ready for it

Taylor Swift celebrates “Lover” (Photo via Instagram)

Taylor Swift had recently confirmed the rumor that there was indeed a Dixie Chicks collaboration on her new album, Lover. What I don’t think anyone was prepared for was the sort of song the collaboration ended up being.

Taylor released Lover today and buried about halfway through the 18 (!) songs is Soon You’ll Get Better. The song features the Dixie Chicks and is a super touching song for Taylor’s mom, Andrea, and addresses her cancer diagnosis.

“That was really, really hard to write, and it was just a family decision whether to even put it on the album,” Taylor said during her YouTube Live Stream Thursday. “We as a family decided to put this on the album, and it’s something I’m so proud of, but it’s just really hard. I can’t sing it. It’s hard to just emotionally deal with that song. You’ll understand what I mean in a couple hours.”

We definitely understand, Taylor. It’s beautiful and heartbreaking and loving all rolled into one. Check it out below. And you can listen to all of Lover on the Spotify list below this video.
