Get ready to rock out hardcore come Sundays this fall because Joan Jett is joining Carrie Underwood for a revamped Sunday Night Football theme song!

That’s right! Fans who loved Carrie Underwood teaming up with Joan Jett back during CMA Fest earlier this year are in for a treat because the new (and possibly improved?) Sunday Night Football theme song will feature both ladies, NBC Sports announced today.

“I have always been a huge fan of Joan’s, and I’m thrilled that she’s joining us for the Sunday Night Football open,” Underwood said in a press release. “What better way to pay homage to the original SNF opening song than by getting to play with her on primetime’s biggest stage?”

“When Carrie brought us this idea, we immediately embraced it as a terrific way to evolve the performance, while also celebrating the song we used in our first 10 seasons of SNF,” said Fred Gaudelli, Executive Producer of NBC’s Sunday Night Football. “We were excited when Joan agreed to join us, and we can’t wait to debut the finished product.”

The new song will be be nod back to the original 2006 SNF opener, Waiting All Day for Sunday Night, which was set to the music of Jett’s I Hate Myself for Loving You. The opener was originally performed by P!nk before Faith Hill took over in 2007. Carrie Underwood took Faith’s spot back in 2013.

The reworking of the song comes on the heels of a lawsuit filed against NBC, Carrie Underwood, and the writers of the current SNF theme song by a songwriter  who claims they copied her sports-themed tune. That lawsuit, as far as I’m aware, is still ongoing.

Fans will be able to catch the new theme song when the Steelers take on the Patriots Sunday, September 8th, on NBC.
