Garth Brooks celebrated National Dive Bar Day earlier this week with a very special announcement for fans who want to get extra close to the singer and the stage he performs on … he’s launching a special dive bar tour in honor of his current single with Blake Shelton, Dive Bar. As you can probably figure out by the title, Garth will be playing dive bars throughout the country.
Starting July 15th in Chicago, Garth will play at a total of seven dive bars throughout the summer, although so far Chicago is the only stop that’s been announced.
“Dive bars are all about the people inside of them. These people are our family…the ones we can talk to about anything and the dive bar itself is a lot of times, the calm in the storm, our getaway from the daily grind,” said Brooks in a release. “I applaud Seagram’s and share the mission to help our favorite neighborhood hangouts live to see another day. That’s why I urge all my friends to take the #JointhePact pledge to never drive impaired, so together we can keep the celebration going all summer long.”
Sponsored by Seagram’s 7 Crown, the other six dive bar stops should be the hottest ticket in town once the locations are finally announced, although I’m thinking tickets probably won’t be able to be purchased and will instead be something you win from local radio stations.
If you’d like to see what Garth playing in a bar looks like, check out “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on Monday because he’ll be televising Garth’s first Dive Bar performance at an actual dive bar from the Joe’s on Weed St. in Chicago on his show.
On a side note, I will be at Garth’s regular tour stop in Boise next week, 7/19, when Blake Shelton will be his special guest to perform their hit song Dive Bar. Be sure to check back here for all the highlights.
