Planning Your Florida Vacation

Visit Florida

There’s a good reason Florida is a popular tourist destination. Whether you’re planning a trip during spring break, summer vacation or the holiday season, it’s a great state to visit for warmer weather. There’s also plenty to do in several of Florida’s most popular cities, many of which are within a few hours driving distance of each other. Here are four major cities worth traveling to during your next trip to “The Sunshine State.”

Fort Myers

From one of the most unique murder mystery shows in South Florida to a live manatee park, there’s a variety of entertainment in this city. Its proximity to Cape Coral makes it a great destination to take sailing lessons. You can also explore nature in one of its many parks. Make sure you plan a stop at a local orange grove to enjoy some tasty citrus treats, like freshly squeezed juices and key lime pie.

The city of Miami is a food, fashion, culture and entertainment hub on the East coast. The beautiful beaches are extremely popular with plenty of breathtaking Art Deco architecture to admire. It’s also home to the only sub-tropical zoo in the country. Whether you’re looking for exotic nightlife or educational museums, there’s something for every age in Miami.

Cape Canaveral

The Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral offers an up-close look at NASA’s space exploration program. It also boasts a truly unique experience you can’t find in many other places: the opportunity to view a live rocket launch. If you have some flexibility in scheduling your trip, check their website for a calendar of upcoming launches to coordinate with your plans.

No list of Florida vacation destinations would be complete without mentioning Orlando. If your family enjoys spending a lot of time in theme parks, this is a must-see location. From Walt Disney World to Universal Studios to Sea World, there’s a park for every age and every taste. Also nearby are the Everglades, where you can catch a glimpse of alligators and take a ride on an airboat in this protected swampland. With so much to see and do and Florida, don’t limit yourself to just one city. Whether you’re looking for entertainment, history or relaxation, these places have it all and more. Consider driving or renting a car for your stay to allow you to visit two, three or all four cities on this list.
