For some reason, the entertainment media loves pitting women against each other, and that includes America’s Sweethearts and American Idol superstars, Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood. For whatever reason, people fabricate drama between the two mega-talents, despite the face that there’s never been evidence of any such beef.

In fact, the two often share supportive tweets and Clarkson recently posted that she had been gifted clothing from Carrie’s sportswear line, Calia by Carrie.

This weekend, however, Clarkson decided to squash those rumors once and for all on the red carpet of the Radio Disney Music Awards, where she spotted Underwood and embraced her, posing for photos.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Clarkson revealed:

Everybody always tries to pit me and Carrie against each other,” she said. “So, when I saw her I was like, ‘You know what? Let’s just end this right now and get a picture together because we are never in the same place.’ And, like, it never happens. And people always try to put it together like we’re enemies. And I’m like, ‘We don’t even know each other well enough to be enemies.’ So, anyway, I went to get a picture and then everybody lost their mind.

Clarkson performed a medley of her hits and received the Icon Award from The Voice Winner, Brynn Cartelli, and current American Idol winner, Maddie Poppe. Underwood was honored for her charity work with the Hero Award and performed her uplifting anthem, “The Champion,” with Ludacris.
