Miranda Lambert seems to be flying higher than ever following the release of her dual-disc album The Weight of These Wings; but it wasn’t until she hit the bottom that she was able to soar to the top.
Performing in front of a Chicago crowd this past weekend, Lambert admitted that her 2015 divorce led to “a little extra” drinking. In fact, if you were hanging out in Midtown in Nashville, chances are you saw Lambert closing bars down several nights a week for awhile.

Of course, it saddens us to hear that Lambert was going through such an emotional time that led to drowning her sorrows in alcohol, but we can’t say we’ll ever turn down the opportunity to hear an honest, straight-from-the-hip and heart song from the country music powerhouse. That is exactly what came of her nights of last calls when she and frequent co-writer Natalie Hemby got together.
