Holly Dunn passes away from cancer

Holly Dunn

Sad news to report this morning. After revealing earlier this year that she was battling an aggressive form of ovarian cancer, Daddy’s Hands singer Holly Dunn has passed away at the age of 59.

According to Nashville’s WSMV, a family friend told the network that Dunn passed away “at a hospice facility in Albuquerque, NM, surrounded by friends and family members.”

When she revealed her cancer diagnosis to Christian music website Hallels in June, Holly said that she knew the prognosis was dire but she was planning to fight to the very end. She told the site, “It is going to be more of a battle than I anticipated, but I have a huge faith in the healing power of God and the healing power within me that originates from my God.”

Despite her optimism at the time, Dunn said that no matter what happened she was prepared. “Being a Christian, I know that no matter how this chapter ends, I will be OK.”

Funeral arrangements are still pending.

Despite having several hits in the 80s and early 90s, Dunn left music in 2003 to pursue a career as a painter. You can see some of her work on the Facebook page dedicated to her art and also at penagallery.com.
