Jana Kramer recently announced a separation from her husband, Michael Caussin, with news following that Caussin had entered rehab. Now, Kramer’s husband and the father to her daughter, Jolie, is speaking out for the first time, issuing an apology to the singer/actress/Dancing With the Stars contestant.
Caussin told PEOPLE:
I acknowledge that certain actions and behaviors have caused issues in my marriage and I am deeply sorry for the pain I have caused Jana. I have and will continue to take the steps needed to change who I am as a person in order to be a better husband and father.
The pain he caused runs deep for Kramer, who cites Caussin as the biggest relationship betrayal she has experienced; even more so than first husband Michael Gambino who was imprisoned for attempted murder. “Mike was the biggest of the betrayals because it was the first time in a relationship where I truly loved the version of me,” she says. “I didn’t feel I had to prove that I was good enough, I was vulnerable and finally at peace with myself.”
If any good has come from this trying time, it is that Kramer has begun to develop love for herself — and isn’t that the most important love of all?
I am truly starting to figure out my worth. My main problem, which is one reason why I’ve been in bad relationships, is that a family is all I want. It’s all I’ve dreamed of. I wanted to be loved and I wanted to love someone.
