Update: Taylor’s new donation is reportedly a part of the bigger donation and not in addition to it. Still a great thing she did.
Louisiana suffered historic and utterly devastating floods this month that have left 13 people dead and tens of thousands of others displaced. According to USA Today, “more than 100,000 individuals and households have registered for assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.”
Country artists have always been quick to try and help when these sorts of things happen, and this time has been no different.
Taylor Swift, who isn’t country any longer but who still holds a special place in many country fans’ hearts, has opened her big heart and even bigger wallet to help Louisiana not once but twice now.
Last week, Taylor donated $1 million to flood relief, saying in a statement at the time: “We began The 1989 World Tour in Louisiana, and the wonderful fans there made us feel completely at home. The fact that so many people in Louisiana have been forced out of their own homes this week is heartbreaking.”
Today comes word that the singer has once again donated in a big way.
Yesterday, the Baton Rouge Food Bank revealed on Instagram that Swift had donated $50,000 to their cause.
“@taylorswift donated $50,000 to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank!” the caption read. “The #laflood destroyed our warehouse but we are going to shake it off!
Taylor, of course isn’t the only star who has stepped up to try and help.
Earlier this week, Tim McGraw took to Instagram to make a video plea for fans to lend a hand.
