Maren Morris Is A “Hero” On The Billboard Charts

Maren Morris released her debut full-length album, Hero, on Friday, June 3. The result of the release was a history-making chart debut.

Becoming the first debut to climb to the top of the Billboard Top Country Albums chart in 2016, Hero sold 37,000 copies in its first week. Morris also landed at No. 5 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart, according to the music magazine. Morris told Billboard:

I am still in shock at the response to “Hero.” This album is everything I had envisioned when I first thought about making a full record. I couldn’t be more proud, and I’m so grateful.

A new female artist has not topped the album chart since Cassadee Pope‘s Frame By Frame debut in 2013.
