Things didn’t go exactly as planned during Lady Antebellum’s performance of the National Anthem at this weekend’s Kentucky Derby. The trio donned their derby attire for the anthem, and during the short ode to America, the skies opened up.
Charles Kelley, Hillary Scott and Dave Haywood were the consummate professionals, barely wavering as they got soaked during the performance. Scott posted the above photo on Instagram, writing, “What a CRAZY way to sing the National Anthem!!! A moment we will never forget @kentuckyderby! And I’ve never been more thankful for a hat!!”
