Blake Shelton & Gwen Stefani Debut Duet (Watch!)

Tonight on NBC‘s The Voice, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani debuted their new duet, “Go Ahead and Break My Heart.” The song, which tells the tale of someone who is anticipating the worst outcome in a relationship, will appear on Shelton’s forthcoming If I’m Honest (May 20).

The true duet alternates verses as the musical and real-life couple joins together in the choruses, insisting that the other goes ahead and breaks his/her heart since they accidentally fell in love. Infusing Shelton’s country twang with Stefani’s pop stylings, the two presented a song with mass crossover potential, showing that each is versatile in his/her own right.

This song’s lyrics are confusing. His part is about getting back w/ and ex and hers are about new love? Strange. The production on the single is a little heavy. Expected more and this is NOT a country song. Also really turned off by the about of NBC promotion on this couple. This is a show about up and coming artists correct? If I wanted the Bachelor I would watch the other channel. Not a fan.
