ABC recently announced the cancellation of Nashville, advising fans that the end of season four would also be the end of the beloved series. Fans rallied and petitioned to save the show, and it appears that hope is not lost for the cast, crew, and viewers just yet.
According to Variety, there are at least four platforms interested in airing ongoing episodes of Nashville. Lionsgate, a producer of the show, stated that the company is “remaining optimistic” about a season five (and more) finding a home. Lionsgate’s head of TV, Kevin Beggs, stated:
We kind of go one season at a time in our thinking. Our near-term plan is to get another full season. These kinds of shows can go forever and ever — obviously that’s our hope and expectation, but we’ve got to do it one season at a time. So right now, we’re all about Season 5. So we hope to land Season 5 and keep talking about this show for years to come.
And in more good news — the cast is on board for additional seasons. “We have long-term deals with the cast,” Beggs confirmed.
Fingers crossed for all you Nashville fans that the cancellation of the show was just a dramatic pause, rather than a definite end!
