With the passing of the great Merle Haggard, artists spent much of April 6 paying their respects to the country music legend. Tim McGraw was no exception, even taking it a step further than a social media post to honor The Hag.

In keeping with McGraw’s backstage jam sessions with his talented band, the humble and kind singer performed Haggard’s “Workin’ Man Blues,” giving the influential artist the best kind of tribute imaginable. With a fun, upbeat, celebratory delivery of the 1969 Number 1 hit song, McGraw and his boys paid homage to a life and career that many can cite as one on which they were raised.

Watch McGraw and his band as they perform “Workin’ Man Blues” backstage to honor Merle Haggard.
