Chris Stapleton Honors Prince with Cover of “Nothing Compares 2 U”


Earlier today, we came across a stunning tribute to Prince from the Dixie Chicks and now we’re adding yet another to the list. Chris Stapleton lent his patented raspy soul to “Nothing Compares 2 U” during a Saturday night show in Berkeley, California.

Much like Stapleton’s persona, the tribute is understated, soulful and passionate as his voice growls the lyrics on a stage bathed in purple light. “Hell I’m gonna try this…I don’t know if I can actually do it…but we’re gonna do it for a great musician we lost…” Stapleton begins before launching into his cover.

Eric Church turns Grammys performance into something bigger

You may have watched Eric Church’s performance of his 2014 hit ‘Give Me Back My Hometown’ on Sunday night at the Grammys and thought that was all there was to it. A performance of a Grammy-nominated song from a Grammy-nominated album (he lost both, to Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert respectively, but who’s counting). A slightly rough vocal performance on a stage that is probably too big for the song’s slow burn and unconventional structure. But that wasn’t the whole story.
