Today, in 2002, Jo Dee Messina and Tim McGraw brought the song that welcomed a hard time and celebrated the possibility of a better tomorrow to the top of the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

Bring On the Rain“, the GRAMMY-nominated track from Jo Dee’s Platinum-selling Burn album, marked the award-winning artist’s fifth Number 1 single and highest career positioning track on the Adult Contemporary chart (Number 6). The song also allowed Tim to enjoy two songs hitting Number 1 back-to-back, with his own single, “The Cowboy In Me“, taking over the top spot the following week.

The song that has become somewhat of an anthem for those going through difficult times was released on September 10, 2011, supplying musical therapy to many Americans following the attacks on our soil. “Bring On the Rain” is also cited as many people’s go-to tune as they underwent medical treatments, suffered through grief, and/or dealt with other moments in life that necessitated a reminder that the sun will always come up the next day.

Today, fourteen years to the date of its rise to Number 1, Jo Dee and Tim’s collaboration still remains one of the most beloved songs in recent country music history and marks one of Jo Dee’s biggest successes in her twenty-year career.
