Dolly Parton brought her spunky personality and a load of news to a Nashville press conference today, sharing more information than anybody anticipated. While attendees believed the legendary country music artist and actress was announcing the release of the Coat of Many Colors DVD (which she did), it was some of the other statements that left the room buzzing.
First and foremost, Dolly will be releasing a new two-disc album in 2016. One side of the album will consist of her biggest hits (emphasis on the “h”, as Dolly pointed out), while the other will be a twelve-track collection of new, original tunes.
To commemorate the release of the record, the recently turned seventy-year-old will embark on a North American tour, stopping throughout the United States and Canada. The Canadian stops will mark Dolly’s first venture north of the border in twenty-five years. On the tour, fans can expect to hear the greats from Dolly’s catalog, such as “I Will Always Love You“, “9 to 5“, “Jolene“, and more, with a few of the newer songs included. Dolly warned that the identifiable songs will be more scaled down and performed “simply”, while her set list will also involve gospel, Coat of Many Colors tracks, and some fun covers.
Dolly also shared that her amusement park, Dollywood, would receive some improvements in the near future, including the fastest wooden roller coaster, clocking in at seventy-three miles per hour. The Lightning Rod will be a part of the expected $300 million bill the theme park anticipates spending in the foreseeable future.
We can’t wait to find out if Dolly will be coming back to Nashville on her tour, and we certainly are excited for some new music! I, personally, will wave to you all as you ride that roller coaster ………..
