Last night on NBC‘s The Voice, Texas met Oklahoma in the ring for an epic musical rivalry. Houston native turned Nashville sweetheart, Mary Sarah, went toe-to-toe with Okie Justin Whisnant in The Battles and performed a Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty classic, “Louisiana, Woman, Mississippi Man“.
The Team Blake contestants met with their coach, Blake Shelton, and team mentor, Gwen Stefani, who helped them mold their number into an entertaining theatrical performance. While both singers played their roles and did the Loretta/Conway song incredible justice, only one could prevail.
Mary Sarah’s strong duet skills proved to lend a hand in this round, as the Bridges singer put up her dukes and came out a winner. Watch Mary Sarah and Justin compete for the continued spot on Team Blake, and tune in again next week to see which other country stars move on to The Knockouts!
