If you love the direction country music has been heading as of late, you will certainly fall head over heels for Adam Wakefield. The Nashville resident auditioned for NBC’s The Voice last night by performing George Jones’ “Tennessee Whiskey”, and immediately began to receive comparisons to Chris Stapleton‘s cover of the tune.
Not a bad way to walk into the country music spotlight, huh?
Adam won coaches Blake Shelton and Adam Levine over with his traditional sounding voice and broad range, leaving the bromantic red chair bookends to duke it out for his team membership. In the end, Nashville ties proved to bind and Team Blake prevailed.
