Last night, Cassadee Pope and Chris Young brought their talents to a Detroit, Michigan crowd on the I’m Comin’ Over Tour. Serving as the opener for her “Think of You” duet partner, Cassadee has notably warmed audiences up since the tour began, bringing them a variety of her Frame by Frame tracks, newly penned tunes, and the occasional influential cover.
During the tour stop in Motor City, Cassadee opted for a cover of another country/pop/rock artist, the incomparable, untouchable Kelly Clarkson. Clad in a signature crop top and rocker chic leather skirt, Cassadee bravely and boldly took on Kelly’s Number 1 hit song “Behind These Hazel Eyes” … and owned it.
Placing her higher vocals on the emotional pop-rock tune, Cassadee did her predecessor proud, even conquering a note at the end of the bridge that is nearly impossible for most vocalists. Couple the enormous talent of the invincible star with an adorable edginess that is uniquely Cassadee, and this cover performance of Kelly’s “Behind These Hazel Eyes” ranks up there among the absolute best of the best.
