The Voice’s Shelby Brown Sings Jo Dee Messina’s “Even God Must Get the Blues” (Watch!)


There are some songs that are written that are akin to exquisite gems and will be rightfully cherished forever. Jo Dee Messina’s “Even God Must Get the Blues” is one of those tunes that once it comes into your life, you are never the same.

NBC’s The Voice contestant and Team Adam member, Shelby Brown, at the ripe old age of seventeen, had the wherewithal to recognize the greatness of Jo Dee’s song, choose to sing it during Season 9’s semi-finals, and wow the crowd with her rendition. Performing the song and putting her own vocal twist on it, Shelby garnered glowing reviews from the panel of coaches, ranging from it being her best performance during the competition to making her own coach, Adam Levine, exceptionally proud.
