Yes, you just heard a country song with prominent fiddle part. The content of Kendal Conrad’s “Country Queen” may be cliche, but its quality is not.
It’s a great mix of everything. The electric guitar gives it a lot of energy, and would make the sound right at home on the radio. Then there’s the fiddle throughout the song that may remind one of Shania Twain’s “Any Man of Mine,” and the banjo roll during the chorus which help bring the song back to the dirt roads of the heartland.
Even with the nice production, a country song is nothing without the vocal. And Conrad’s vocal control and power is that of someone who has obviously spent time honing their craft. Her voice delivers the confidence needed for such an upbeat selection, and she proves she can belt it out with the best of them near the end of the song.
All together it’s a fun song, and you’ll definitely be turning it up every time it comes on.
