English town to forgetful staff: Donate money to Dolly Parton

Dolly Parton Imagination Library

You’ve gotta love creative government folks.

According to the Nottingham Post, officials in Nottingham, England have come up with a clever way to deal with staffers who forget their security cards … they want to make them donate to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

The Nottingham City Council recently sent out an email to Loxley House, the administrative home of the council, announcing that they were proposing a £1 ($1.54) donation to Dolly’s project for anyone who forgets their security cards because so many people (approximately 200 per week) forget them.

As you can imagine, people (probably all those forgetful staffers) aren’t happy with the proposal, but you have to admit it’s a clever way to not only raise money for a good cause but to change an annoying habit in your coworkers.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library offers free books to children under five in communities around the world.
