At a time when females in country music are fighting to regain equality on radio, the Country Music Association is paying homage to those who represented the gender and genre beautifully over the last year. Today, the CMA Awards announced that the following females will perform at the 49th Annual event: Kelsea Ballerini, Miranda Lambert, Maddie & Tae, Kacey Musgraves, and host Carrie Underwood.

Sarah Trahern, the CMA Chief Executive Officer, explained:

From Miranda Lambert’s explosive debut CMA performance in New York in 2005 to Reba’s performance in that famous red dress that now resides in the Country Music Hall of Fame, the females in our format deliver some of the most dynamic and talked about awards moments and this year should be no different.

The female performers, collectively, possess twelve nominations this year, including the coveted Entertainer of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, and New Artist of the Year.

Previously announced performers for the CMA Awards are Eric Church, Hank Williams, Jr., Thomas Rhett, and Fall Out Boy. The 49th Annual CMA Awards will air live Wednesday, November 4th at 8:00pm ET on ABC.

The 2005 CMA’s Miranda Lambert’s performance is no doubt still a memory for many county music fans. The peformance turned a young country singer songwriter into a Star over nite. Of course she had lots more work to get done to be the superstar she is today. A Grammy, #1 Albums, CMA/ ACM Female Volcalist, song and singles over a decade. I think she has proven herself to be a Female Superstar. Happy to see Country will be on stage 2015 with performances from Kacey , Maddie and Tae. I’m supporter of Maddie and Tae. Kacey just may give the guys a run for their album of the year. Of course there’s Female Vocalist! I’m hoping CAM and Jana Kramer get included as performers.
