A “typical” girl will ring in her twenty-second birthday surrounded by family and friends. Maybe she’ll go out for dinner; grab a few drinks; hit a bar or a club. Again, that is the “typical” girl.
Country music’s newest twenty-two year old girl is far from typical, having scored a Number 1 debut hit, Top 5 album, two CMA Award nominations, and countless other successes before her twenty-second birthday. Perhaps that is why Kelsea Ballerini spent the night of her big 2-2 on a large stage, opening for one of the genre’s most celebrated groups, Lady Antebellum, on the Wheels Up Tour.
Kelsea had been anticipating this night for a long time, telling me back in May that she was eager to celebrate her birthday with fans, performing as a part of Lady A’s world tour.
I have seven dates on the Lady A tour. I’m doing . . . Greenville and it’s my twenty-second birthday too!
Kelsea wasn’t the only one excited about appearing at the September 12th Wheels Up Tour stop. Fans were sharing their love for the lineup (Kelsea, Hunter Hayes, and Lady A) on social media all night.

The only thing that could have possibly made Kelsea’s birthday show better was if she got to enter on the hydraulic lift she and I love to envision. Soon enough, Kelsea. Soon enough.
