While Lady Antebellum may be on hiatus with the conclusion of the Wheels Up Tour, front man Charles Kelley isn’t taking any time off. Earlier today, it came to my attention on Twitter thanks to WindmillsMusic that Charles was releasing a solo single. Despite no major buzz about its release, the track is already available on both iTunes and Spotify.
Interestingly enough, over the past few months, Kelley has seemed to make a concerted effort to establish himself on social media apart from Lady A, and now it’s clear why. His first single, entitled “The Driver” doesn’t stray too far from the sound that Lady A fans have come to know and love, but establishes Kelley as a solo force to be reckoned with.
The track was co-written by Kelley, Abe Stoklasa and Eric Paslay, who also appears on the track with Dierks Bentley. Whether this is just a one off project or the beginning of a solo career for Kelley remains to be seen, if “The Driver” is any indication, he’s on the right track.
