Mickey Guyton has been crushin’ it on tour with Brad Paisley all summer, showing country music fans nationwide what authentic talent looks like. However, it wasn’t always amphitheaters and sold-out shows for this Texas born and raised singer-songwriter. In fact, Mickey’s road to her current destination has been long, albeit unwavering, proving that with a lot of dedication and hard work, the seemingly impossible can become a reality.
After seeing LeAnn Rimes perform in Arlington, Texas when Mickey was just a child, she knew she wanted to follow in her new, young idol’s footsteps. Singing locally until she graduated high school, Mickey improved her skills and prepared for what would come next for the aspiring singer — a move to California.
While on the west coast, Mickey was discovered by a Nashville executive, which resulted in a 2011 move to Music City and a record deal with UMG’s Capitol Records Nashville. Despite the release of an EP, Unbreakable, it was her 2014 history-breaking and making single, “Better Than You Left Me,” that put Mickey’s name on the map.
We recently received this video of Mickey’s Rdio performance of “Why Baby Why” (penned by Victoria Banks, Phil Barton, and Emily Shackelton), which spotlights the stellar vocals of the Capitol Nashville recording artist, proving that she is truly in a league of her own. Watch the gorgeous performance of one of the best songs to ever be written below, and make sure to follow Mickey on Twitter, Facebook, and her website for updates.
