Trace Adkins’ wife reportedly calls off the divorce (update: No she didn’t)

(Turns out there’s more to the story than what I first reported on. The update is at the bottom)

Here’s some great news for Trace Adkins and his family. It looks like Trace’s wife Rhonda has had a change of heart about their divorce and has now called it off.

Radar Online released a legal document today that shows Rhonda filed for an “order of voluntary dismissal” in the case on June 1.

Rhonda’s mother, Jewell Forlaw, told The National Enquirer that her own 63-year marriage may have been part of the reason for Rhonda’s decision. “I loved him till the day he died, and I would want Rhonda to do the same thing. I believe in ’till death do we part.’”

Rhonda had filed for divorce from Trace in March of 2014, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason. The split was just one of the many things that went wrong for Trace in a very short period of time last year, including his father passing away, Trace leaving a cruise after getting into a fight with a Trace Adkins impersonator, and an eventual stay in rehab.

I definitely wish them both the best. With 17 years of marriage behind them and young children still in the household, it’s nice that the couple has maybe found a way to work through their troubles.

Update: Well that’s a bummer. Turns out looks really can be deceiving and Trace’s lawyer has now released a statement that says the pair haven’t called off the divorce, they’ve just settled and the divorce is pretty much done and over with already.

“The Adkins have settled their divorce amicably,” the singer’s lawyer Larry Hayes Jr. told E! News in a statement Wednesday. “Rhonda and Trace made this decision together in the best interest of their family. All that remains is for the court to approve the agreements that have been executed by them both.  An updated petition seeking such Court approval will be filed in the coming days.”

That’s unfortunate, but I’m sure they’ll be happy to have it behind them.
