In perhaps the world’s most well known wife swap, Shania Twain opened up about that whole her husband sleeping with her best friend situation. And it’s safe to say she’s more than over it. Just her being on stage again singing proves that.
“When that happened, I thought, ‘Forget it, this is more than I can handle — I’m never going to sing again,’” Shania told The New York Post of that highly scandalous 2008 affair between Robert “Mutt” Lange and Marie-Anne Thiébaud. “I had to grieve through it.”
And grieve she did. She grieved right through all that pain and fell in love — with Marie-Anne’s ex, Swiss-born Nestlé exec Frédéric Thiébaud, whom she married in 2011.
While she and her ex may be civil for her son’s sake, that’s whole being nice thing doesn’t extend to his wife. “I don’t see her, ever,” Twain says of her former BFF. “I don’t invite that trigger into my life … She’s not my future — she’s my past.”
