When a health update starts out “stage 4 cervical cancer,” you know it’s not going to be the best news ever. However, in his usual way, Joey+Rory’s Rory Feek has updated fans on his wife Joey’s cancer fight in the sweetest, calmest, most uplifting and loving way possible.
Rory took to his This Life I Live blog today to give fans an update on what they had found out within the last week about Joey’s recent cancer diagnosis.
The doctors say there is a 9 cm tumor in Joey’s sigmoid colon. Even though the cancer is now in the colon, they said it’s the same cells as before (she was diagnosed with cervical cancer last year and had surgery last June to remove the tumor), and that the original cancer has now spread to a new organ and the tumor and cells are rapidly growing, so that is the big concern.
As I write this… my wife is in her garden, the baby on a blanket near her. She’s weeding her squash, and broccoli and kale, and the cucumbers that have just poked their heads up out of the soil. But she’s not just tending to her vegetables – she’s tending to her soul. Walking and talking with God.
Even in this fight of their lives when most people would let cancer take front and center stage and would probably start getting depressed about the diagnosis, the pair are just going about their lives, raising their daughter, and staying strong in their faith and love.

Rory goes on to say that the couple plus daughter Indiana and Joey’s sister will head to Chicago next week for an appointment at a cancer treatment center.
I know everyone will be keeping them in their thoughts and continued prayers.

Praying for this dear, sweet young wife, mother and child of God…that makes her my sister in Christ, part of my most cherished family. “I Need Thee Every Hour” is a most wonderful song to pray, and I learned that from you, Joey. He knows you do need Him every second, and I thank Him that He’s there for you–doing the things my heart longs to do for you. It doesn’t matter that we don’t know each other–I’m a mother and grandmother and I just have that maternal instinct to pray for you right now, precious Joey. Lost so many relatatives to cancer but when I heard Joey was stricken with it it broke our hearts. We do pray for a miracle for all of you you two are the real deal your love just seems to come right through the TV screen and Joey sings like an angel. Our hearts are breaking with you and our prayers are still hoping for a miracle . Just know people who haven’t meant you still love you and want that miracle for Joey bad. Take care and God bless.
