Kelsea Ballerini‘s career continues to be an ongoing list of “first times,” as she wows the industry over and over again. However, those of us who have watched the supremely talented singer-songwriter grow throughout the last year aren’t surprised in the slightest. Shocked, no; thrilled, yes.
Kelsea’s latest feat comes at a perfect time — one when females in country music are being chastised by some, defended by some, and still overlooked by most. This week, Kelsea Ballerini’s debut single “Love Me Like You Mean It” entered the Top 5 on the Mediabase Country Chart and continues to climb. Ironically, Kelsea’s full-length album The First Time reportedly debuted on the Billboard Country Albums Chart in the Number 5 position, as well.
On the success of her music, Kelsea graciously stated:
As a new artist releasing a first single, all you want is for it to be heard, to make a good first impression. The fact that country radio is embracing it, is more than I could ask for. I want to hug everyone.
